On the cheap
That special gift doesn’t always have to be expensive - especially when it comes to collectors and fangirls.
Books for trade
A good, often cheap, way of finding someone that special something, you have to go no further than Twitter.
The #booksfortrade trend has taken off in a big way - and if you are lucky you can find that special edition, foreign edition, ARC, proof and even swag, via the hashtag.
Be mindful that sometimes, especially when trading internationally, can get expensive, so keep a level head when negotiating trades. Also, some people want to trade like for like (ie ARC for ARC), some are happy if the other party just pays for postage, some want to trade an ARC for finished copies. So be clear when entering into negotiations on what you can do, what the other person is looking for and even if they will trade internationally (some people will, some people won’t).
To try to find that special something check out the following hashtags on Twitter:
General trading, predominantly U.S. based: #booksfortrade
Australian based trading: #booksfortradeAU
U.K. based trading: #booksfortradeUK
Swag trading: #swagfortrade
ARC trading: #arcsfortrade
And when all else fails
When all else fails, try a bookish gift card! These are also great for people who are just too hard to buy for or are leaving interstate or overseas.
Giftcards options:
All links to purchase books go to Booktopia, an Australian online retailer. For international friends, I suggest you check for availability at The Book Depository, Amazon or your local indie bookstore!

What do you think?
I would love to get the illustrated edition of The Chamber of Secrets. I got the first one last year around Christmas, so I think I’ll ask for it again for Christmas. The editions are so beautiful! I also really want the Coloring Books of The Lord of the Rings. How epic are they??
I’m definitely checking out the soaps, candles, bookmarks, etc. because I’m always up for supporting independent businesses -and getting cool stuff.
Great post!
