Review: Eve and Adam tells the story of Evening (Eve) Spiker, who was involved in a car crash and hurt quite badly. Her mother (Terra Spiker) demands the doctors to release Eve into her car, as she will have Eve transported to her private hospital facility. Terra owns Spiker Biopharmaceuticals, a company that does more than just research as Eve finds out.

Whilst there, she meets a guy named Solo who assists her mother. She forms a pretty strong bond with him. And whilst there, her mother asks her to participate in a project - to design the perfect man.

I have struggled so much to write this review, because I can’t find the words I need to express why I liked Eve and Adam - but didn’t love it.

So firstly, what I did like about this was the storyline. I felt like it had an excellent foundation and it was a great idea.

I didn’t love the characters. In general I didn’t feel a real connect to any of them, which for me is quite rare, because I usually find something to like or relate to with characters in most books, no matter how unrealistic the story may be. In this book, I didn’t feel that bond. I was given a lot of information about the characters to digest, but if I am honest - I didn’t care about them. I wasn’t emotionally invested.

I really wanted to like Solo, and usually in books, you find certain qualities about the lead male that make you swoon and you crush on them. In this book, I felt like I was being told how amazing and hot Solo was, instead of actually seeing these qualities demonstrated in a way that I believed them.

Apart from the characters themselves, I really didn’t have any other issues with this book. I thought the idea of genetically modifying people was interesting and a little creepy. Definitely an interesting concept for a YA book. I also love a villain, and so I really liked how evil Eve’s mother was at times!

All in all I am rating this book a 3 - meaning I liked it. It’s a good book but there was a few things holding it back from being a great book.
